It's official and confirmed. Mayor Michael Nutter was joined by Jay-Z this morning atop the Art Museum steps to announce a the big Labor Day weekend music festival called "Made in America" It's going to featured 28 acts on 3 stages over 2 days along the Parkway. Nutter called Philly a 'music town', and Jay-Z said it meets his criteria of having the potential to be great, to advance the culture, and to be philanthropic. A portion of proceeds goes to the United Way. Tickets go on sale May 23rd, $99 for a 2-day pass.

A New Jersey Assembly committee approved a bill today that would ban anyone under 18 from using a tanning salon. New Jersey currently has a law that bars anyone under 14 from tanning, and requiring parental consent from teens 14 to 17 years old. Sponsors of the new bill feel this current system is not enough protection, and that parental consent is too easy to fake. Just like Anna Krenticil, 'the tanning mommy', too many parents may have be making ill advised decisions about the dangers of tanning salons and young skin. The bill will now go to the full New Jersey assembly for a vote.

A man in his 60's brought a live grenade into the 2nd and 15th police districts in Northeast Philadelphia yesterday afternoon. He had it wrapped in plastic and put it on the counter. The man said he bought an old radio at a flea-market earlier in the day and hear a rattle inside, upon opening he found the old grenade. The building was immediately evacuated and bomb squad called in. Unfortunately the man who brought in the munition left in the evacuation and police could not interview him furthers about where it came from.

In Sports, Cole Hamels' agent John Boggs has reportedly told the Phillies he's looking for a 7 year deal for the 28 year old leftie. Hamels could get $150-175 million on the free agent market. The Phillies haven't been in the business of signing pitchers to long contracts, normally only 3 years at a time. The exception was 5 years for Cliff Lee last year when he was 31. Cole has pitched great so far this year, 5-1 record 2.28 ERA.

Rain most of tonight, with temperatures holding steady in the mid 60's.
